A TENS machine, or Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation, produces an electrical current that passes through the skin to provide pain relief. It is a small, portable, battery-operated device that has up to 4 adhesive pads that can be placed on the painful area such as your neck or lower back. This type of pain relief is generally well tolerated. Speak to your Physiotherapist to see if a TENS machine is right for you, as there are certain conditions or areas where TENS cannot be used.
